The Beginning, Day 2 (Dawson Creek, BC)

Here are the pictures I promised.  The are not the breathtaking views yet, but it will keep you up to date.

First, we went to the visitor’s center here in Dawson Creek and were told that the road was closed in Watson Lake along the Alaska highway.  BUMMER.  Because of heavy rains and mud slides the road is closed and they have no idea when it will be open.  The folks at the Visitor’s center said because of the closure all of the towns along the route were getting filled up.  We called ahead to Fort Nelson, about 400 miles from here.  We made a reservation  for tomorrow night (and it can be extended) in case we need to stay an extra night or two.   At least it is 400 miles closer to our destination.  I topped off both fuel tanks and added water to the fresh water tank. We will pull out tomorrow at early as possible.  We have some phone numbers to call to see how things are progressing at Watson Lake.  Worst case, we are fully self contained and can pull over anywhere there is room.
