Now you thought this would be a political statement. Wrong, although I have seen some disturbing signs on people’s lawns.
What is wrong with this picture?
You don’t see the truck. Well, here it is.
Being flat bedded to the nearest Ford dealer. Here is the camper being dropped off at the the camp site above.
It was a fun day along I-94 in Wisconsin. We were peacefully going along the interstate, when we heard “Ding, Ding”. Looking down the engine light was on, I pulled off to the side of the road and tuned off the engine. That was the end! It would not start. After an hour or so on the phone with the tow service, they sent two tow trucks. One to flat bed the truck to the Ford dealer and one to bring us to a town campground.
To make a long and agonizing story short, the next day the Ford dealer had the truck fixed and we were on our way by 12 noon. Everyone was great. The tow people were helpful. The Ford dealer worked on the truck right away. The problem was that a EGT (exhaust gas temperature) sensor was bad. From talking to other Ford owners, this is not uncommon.
We then headed for Minneapolis to visit our cousins Ernest and Stephanie and their daughter, Tanya.
After Minneapolis we aimed the camper for North Dakota and to Canada. First along the way we visited with Ann's cousin, Bobby (and his friend Gladys). After trying to find a campsite in Fargo we decide just to meet in a Walmart parking lot (where Ann and I spent the night). We had a great visit, catching up on old times.
Next problem. We have an air bag hitch which takes up a great deal of the up and down bumps in the road. Well you have to fill the air bag with air every so often. So when I was filling the airbag, I broke the valve off. And Murphy’s Law says if it happens on a Saturday and no one but the factory will have it in stock. So, here we sit in a campground in the middle of North Dakota. In the middle of nowhere, on our way to Alaska waiting to make a call tomorrow to the factory to get the part sent overnight (hopefully).
It is a nice campground, by North Dakota standards, Ann is doing laundry and I am writhing this blog.
Hopefully, within the next day or two we will be in Canada. We will have cell service, where available, but not internet service. The only internet service we will have is WiFi, where available, because to use the air card is very expansive. So the blog may be intermittent. I will blog and upload pictures when I can.
Still we have internet, cell phone, where we are and we have each other, so life is good.
See you down the Roan Road…
